Pylo Helmet.

Riding your bike is about to become safer, smarter, and more high-tech than ever before. PYLO, developed and designed by Berlin-based Innovation Studio nFrontier, combines many industry-first features, including key automotive safety and driver assistance technologies now applied to a bicycle helmet. It features a fully integrated Face Shield Airbag, a Smart 360° Surround Safety System, and a 3D-knitted chin guard, revolutionizing the way we ride our bikes.

The Face Shield Airbag is complemented by smart safety high-tech such as LIDAR radar sensors, 3D immersive sound, LED light indicators, and more. Unlike traditional, cumbersome airbag technology for bike riders, the Face Shield Airbag blows up from the rear in case of an accident, protecting the jawbones, teeth, and eyes. This exceeds today’s most advanced bicycle airbags, which only prevent heavy upper head injuries.

“We designed our helmet with the needs of both urban commuters and athletes in mind, combining lightweight materials with a contemporary stylish design and cutting-edge technologies.”

Making Of.

After years of searching for suitable technology partners for its PYLO bike helmet, we turned to 3D printing and design. nFrontier used Autodesk 3DSMax for software and Stratasys' F370 and J55 3D printers for the final printing, specifically for the helmet's inner lining. This not only strengthens the helmet but also ensures comfort for the wearer.

PYLO stands out with its innovative features. It includes an airbag that protects the jawbones, teeth, and eyes in an accident, and LED lights on the back. Head and tail lights, as well as blinkers, can be activated by double-tapping while riding. The most crucial feature is the LIDAR technology, which enhances safety by detecting dangers in the blind spot and approaching vehicles.
